Lately more than ever I’ve been listening to the lovely music by JJ Heller, whose songs are gentle thoughts about the world in all of its stages. As her bio says, she writes songs for the child inside of all of us. I think that is an incredible calling as an artist, and there are so many people that have been inspired by her work.
JJ Heller’s monthly singles are extraordinary stand alone songs that will touch your heart and inspire the goodness in your life.
Here are some of my very favorite songs by her, though I am discovering new ones all of the time!
You Already Know
Everything I'm scared of,
Everything I hope.
You hold my tomorrow, and all tomorrow holds,
You already know.
This was the first song of JJ Heller’s that I listened to. While all of her songs can be seen as Christian (they most certainly radiate the goodness of the Lord in all aspects!), this is one of the few that directly addresses God for all of it.
It is one of those songs that I’ve listened to on repeat during hard days, and it brought so much faith into my life.
Ordinary Days
In a million little ways
You make me want to stay
In these ordinary days.
Ah, I simply adore this song. It is all about the ordinary days that make our lives so beautiful. When we get caught up in the big picture life can feel overwhelming at times, but when we stop to dwell on the beauty of the mundane we remember once again how special they are.
This song never fails to fill me with gratitude for the moment in time I’m in right now.
A Mother Like You
I know that I haven't been easy
I hope that I love like you do
Cause I know that this world would be better If everyone had a mother like you.
I only discovered this song more recently, although it is one of her older ones. Honestly, I think it captures what a lot of her songs are directed towards.
The song is about the lovely influence a mother can have on you. The song is sweet, and lovely, and full of quiet adoration.

For the Love of Stories 
“You Already Know” is so beautiful, and it was SO needed in the pandemic. We come back to that song a lot in this house. It is such a perfect song for so many situations… because we face so many unknowns in this life. I haven’t listened to much of her other music, but that one is truly near and dear to my heart.
