The Sunshine Blogger Award

Hello, hello! I have a different sort of post in store for you today that I am very happy to be sharing. Recently I was nominated by Hannah Ruth (from Faith, Fiction, and Fairytales!) for the Sunshine Blogger Award. This is an award to highlight those bloggers that have brought you a little bit of cheery sunshine through their writing, and I feel so honored that Hannah nominated my blog.

She keeps one absolutely incredible blog herself! Her posts have been so helpful and encouraging in my writing, and I always appreciate what she has to say. Thank you so much for nominating me, Hannah! 🙂

Hannah asked some wonderful questions that I’m excited to answer for you all today. I hope you enjoy reading my answers! But first, here’s a recap of the whole deal with this award in the first place (in case some of you are new to it as I was just a couple days ago 😉 ).

  • Display the award’s official logo somewhere on your blog
  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Provide a link to your nominator’s blog
  • Answer your nominator’s questions
  • Nominate up to 11 bloggers
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on at least one of their blog posts.

And now to answer Hannah’s questions!

If you could pick three words to describe yourself, what would they be and why?

I asked several different people what words they would use to describe me, and it proved to be a trickier question to answer than I had thought. But after considering it, I decided on exuberant, passionate, and loving.

What book do you return to time and again?

If you know me at all you can probably already guess my answer. Anne of Green Gables! It’s my favorite book (I know, I know, that’s a bold statement) and only gets better with every reread.

What is your favorite book to shove into people’s hands?

I almost put the same answer as above for this question, but in an effort to have some variety in this post, I’ll choose another book. Adorning the Dark, by Andrew Peterson is an absolutely fantastic book for all the artists and creative people out there. I will certainly shove it into your hands if I ever get the chance to. 😉

Which season is your favorite? Why?

Fall all the way! I adore the chilly weather, and crispy leaves, and shorter days, and everything else about this wonderful season. It is a delightful time for drinking tea, reading books, and going on long afternoon walks.

What book character reminds you the most of yourself?

Once again, I was sorely tempted to answer with my go to favorite book character (Anne Shirley), but I have managed to control myself. Recently I read The Austin Family Chronicles, and I found myself relating to Vicky Austin a lot. Her deep thoughts and the way she wonders about so many things felt very familiar to me, and not the sort of character I read very often.

In a moment of dire need, you raid the refrigerator. What food item do you grab first?

Hmmm… it depends. Right now a cup of chocolate milk sounds delicious, though I suppose that isn’t the most filling choice.

Outside of reading or writing, what is a hobby you enjoy, and how were you introduced to it?

I very much enjoy baking and only wish there was enough time in the world to make everything my heart desires. My first taste of baking was probably cooking and decorating my own birthday cake with my mom when I was little.

What is your go-to board or card game with a group of friends or family?

My family loves Catan and Ticket to Ride. Both are quite long and involved games, but we have played them many, many times together and I love them both!

Science or history?

History! There are many times that I have landed on a bit of golden story inspiration from some random information from the past. Plus, many books I love are historical fiction!

If you could take a course on any obscure topic you pleased, what would you pick?

This is such a fun question! Does book binding count? I know next to nothing about it but would greatly enjoy learning!

If your readers take away only one thing from your blog, what do you want it to be?

Oh wow, I had to think on this one.

I think if my readers could only take away one thing from my blog, I would want them to be inspired in their love of reading, or stories in general. Books truly can hold so much beauty and meaning and I want to remind others of that so that they can better appreciate all that stories have to offer. Stories can be illustrations of God’s love, after all.

My Nominations and Questions

Here are the three people I’m nominating (yes, there are only three). Instead of naming all the people I could I’ve decided to choose a special few that I’m especially thankful for.

Emily Charlotte

Emily writes the most lovely posts and sends out delightful newsletters. I truly have loved reading everything on her blog because of the genuine and thoughtful quality that she puts into it.

Pearl Christine

Pearl writes very inspiring posts for teen girls about a wide range of subjects. I especially love her beautiful photography and cheerful writing! It’s always a pleasure to read her blog.

Sarah Emsley

Sarah’s posts are very oriented around classic literature, such as the books of L. M. Montgomery and Jane Austen. I know I could spend many hours reading her blog, which satisfies the bookish side of my heart.

  1. What book are you reading right now?
  2. Who is your favorite author?
  3. Do you enjoy drinking a cup of steaming tea?
  4. Are you fond of rereading your favorite books?
  5. What was the blog post you most enjoyed writing?
  6. Are you a sunrise or sunset kind of person?
  7. How long have you been blogging?
  8. Do you have a favorite flower? Which one?
  9. What made you smile this week?
  10. What is the most beautiful place you’ve ever been?
  11. What do you hope to accomplish with your blog in the future (or right now!)?

Final Thoughts

Thanks again to Hannah Ruth for nominating me for The Sunshine Blogger Award! I’m so honored and greatly enjoyed answering her question!

Now I want to hear from you! How would you answer any of these questions? Feel free to leave a comment below!

  1. Such great answers (and questions too!) I’d have a hard time trying to figure out what to grab from the fridge. Maybe if I made a bunch of sandwiches the day before and left them in there? Would that count? Lol.

  2. Aww, you’re too kind. Great answers! So many people have answered the board game question with Catan… I feel like I really need to play it now. My siblings borrowed it from our library and have been playing it incessantly… and trying to get me to play… and… well… maybe it’s time. LOL

Exuberant, passionate, and loving are great words, and those traits shine through in your writing. God bless!

    1. Oh yes! Catan is the best; you should try it (only if you’re willing to invest some time in it though!).
Thank you so much, Hannah! And thank you again for the nomination!

  3. Hello Annabelle,

Congratulations on receiving the Sunshine Blogger Award!! 🥳 I enjoyed reading all of your answers to Hannah’s questions and I understand the urge not to use Anne of Green Gables in every answer! I am a big fan of those books and Anne Shirley too. 😄

I look forward to your next blog post! 😀
