Bookish Thoughts

My 2024 Reading

This year, I read a grand total of 86 books! Of that number I listened to 16 audio books, and reread 18 different books. I found so many new favorite books and discovered several wonderful authors.

More Classic Picture Books

There is a charm to classic picture books that draws you back to them time and time again, and today I’m returning to that subject with three new titles.

An Invitation to Reread this Fall

Today I want to invite you to join me in rereading a book that you love. Pick a favorite book off your shelf and read it again this autumn.

Blueberries for Sal, by Robert McCloskey

As summer is more and more upon us, this award winning picture book about blueberry picking felt like just the right thing to discuss. July is perfect blueberry season, and I have been saving this post specifically for this month.

America, A Patriotic Primer

Happy Independence Day! Today’s post is a short picture book recommendation themed to this summer holiday. If you’re curious about finding books that are about America’s independence then you’ll want to read this post. An Interview with Anna Rose Johnson

Anna Rose Johnson’s stories are sweet and filled with delightfully fun and bookish characters. I am thrilled to have had the chance to interview her recently and share it here!

Reading The Secret Garden for the First Time!

Over the last several weeks a dear friend and I have been reading The Secret Garden together. Neither one of us had ever read it before, though ironically we had both tried to in the past.

The Charm of Peter Pan

When I was reading Peter Pan recently I couldn’t help but admire the many concepts of childhood that are so beautifully displayed in the book. For such a gem of a book I wish more people have read and appreciated it for all its worth.

Thoughts on the March Sisters

In this post I’m going to talk about each of the March sisters individually. I’ll share the lessons I think can be learned from their character growth as well as how they’ve matured over the course of the book.

Talking Animals and E.B. White

In today’s post I’m going to look closely at E.B. White’s three classic children’s books and see how he approaches portraying realistic talking animals in them.

There are some stories that continue to mean more to me every time I read them, and I’m confident they will continue to do so for the rest of my life. In today’s post I’m going to share three of these books with you.

Thoughts on A Wrinkle in Time

This is one of my very favorite books (which might come as a surprise considering it’s significantly different than my usual taste in books), and I have read it at least three times all the way through.
